My name is Evelyn Duberry and I am a Canadian flamework (or lampwork) glass artist.
Sculpting hot glass is both thrilling and meditative at the same time: few things are as fabulous as watching the image in my mind slowly morph within the flame into its final solid glass form. Working with a specialized torch and pencil thin glass rods, I shape the molten glass with basic tools, then either leave the finished beads on their own or combine them to design custom jewellery or sculptures.
Each of my beads is unique, made one by one by me in my home studio - yes, they're all entirely made of glass and no, they're not painted (I get those questions quite often, LOL).
For the most part, I prefer my beads to have an aged, mottled look rather than the candy-bright colours and transparency normally associated with contemporary art glass. I play with flame chemistry and use fine metal leafs and foils, as well as glass frits, enamels and powders to blend custom colours and create shimmery, multi-layered effects.
If you're interested in learning more about me or the glass beadmaking process, then do visit my website or Facebook Page. If you'd like to be notified whenever beads are listed for sale, just send an email to: Evelyn [!at] ShebaMakeda.com to be added to my mailing list.
Happy shopping and do come back soon!
Cheers,
Evelyn.
